Lockdown depression- self retrospective
Happiness is a state of mind. There is no such thing as depression.. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop .. If you are unhappy or upset it simply means that you are jobless. It simply means that you are overthinking and not focusing on things that you can do instead just worrying about things beyond your control.
Do not allow any person or thing to decide your happiness. Because when your happiness is dependent on that , your expectations arises , when it’s not met , it leads to disappointments. Happiness is from within. If you expect from yourself , you can not only perform better , but even capable of consciously not hurting yourself , because you clearly know what you can , what you want , what you accept , what you don’t . When you know yourself that well , nothing can stop you from being happy.
Have a happy life 🙂 It starts from within 💫
This post is an abstract thinking that can be applied only for some folks who are really idle and keep cribbing and choose not to be happy. But at the same time, depression is real.. I have seen folks who got into it.. merely telling them to be happy may not work.
ReplyDeleteHow do you deal in situations when
1. You see a child being abused at home?
2. A rape victim
3. Parents who saw their only child being ravaged through disease and died
4. When you see those that you trusted and spent your whole effort on, betrayed you.
5. When you have to get ready for death but can't leave because you have small kid
6. When you are a slave and being tortured in a foreign country..
7. Wives being harassed for dowry..
These are the real situations when depression and despair attacks.. most of the people impacted by above, think of suicide.. going and telling them 'happiness' is a state of mind, won't work. My two cents here would be
1. If you see a person in real depression, check if you can help them come out of the situation.. or at least hold their hand and be with them while they face it.
2. For folks who are depressed just for the sake of being depressed, whatever we say, they'll ridicule us.
Totally agree with you. My focus is only on the lockdown effect where people are depressed being at home. Unimaginable loss and situations explained by you is totally a different case which has to be dealt differently and that’s definitely not through this blog.. This post is for a sad person who thinks he/she is depressed due to lockdown who by any chance could feel little better by reading this.
DeleteEven in lock down, it depends purely on the situation one is in.. kids go through a depression because they can't go out and play but they don't really know that they are depressed.. it's just an example which I said above.
ReplyDeleteFor people who are in lockdown, I would say... Find the root cause of your sadness.. if it's something within your control, then check for alternative ways. But if it's something outside your control like you want to travel and meet your loved ones but cannot because of lockdown, then it's difficult.. one of our friends lost his mom and is in US.. he couldn't travel because of lockdown.. they did an online death ritual.. it's sad but we have to face it..
Very good article !
ReplyDeletelike an ideal mind is devil's workshop, we were never ideal. hahaha !
